FAQ

  • I’m working out of my home in Bloomington, IN.

  • I will be selling my cozies and at craft fairs. I’m hoping in the near future I can get my cozies in other stores in Bloomington and surrounding towns.

  • One of the main principles of The Mixing Pot is serving the local fiber art community, so I will keep most of my physical inventory available for “in person” purchases. I may have a stock of cozies premade and will sell them while supplies last online for specific events/holidays, but this will not be a common occurrence and is not 100% guaranteed at the moment. If you sign up for my Newsletter, you will get updated on if or when I do sell cozies online!

  • Absolutely! It would be a little silly for me to keep digital content from being online. You can buy digital content at the Store.

  • Sure! As long as you live in the Central/Southern Indiana area, I can make you a custom cozy. If you want to commission me, send me an email to see if I’m open to commissions and to get rates.

Things to consider about commissions: I won’t always be available for commissions, it will cost more than my normal cozies, it will take time for me to write and test the new pattern and make the cozy itself, and sadly, sometimes ideas and visions won’t work for my style of cozy (trust me, there are as many cozies available as there are cozies that will never see the light of day because they just didn’t work in “cozy form”).

I will be as transparent as possible through the whole process, but as the buyer of a handmade product, please keep in mind that you are paying for my time and expertise as well as the materials.

  • At the moment, I’m not open to non-cozy commissions. If that changes any time in the future, I will make posts on the Home Page, Instagram, and send out Newsletters of any updates.

  • I’ve had comments and questions about “where are the eyes?” quite often, I and wanted to explain why I don’t personally do them.

The style I’m going for with all of these cozies is more minimalist. Designing cozies for animals, you have to pick a very distinct feature to focus on, whether it be the tail of a fox, wings of a bat, feet of a penguin, or antlers of a moose. Adding more to a style that focuses mainly on a distinguishing feature would muddle the design a bit and add extra steps, time, and materials, and cost to the cozy.

This is also a stylistic decision. If you want to add eyes to the cozy you’ve made, you can absolutely do that! At the end of the day, the cozy you make using my patterns is yours to do what you want with. I just wanted to shed some light on why I make the cozies the way I do - with no eyes.
